Support
This website was built specifically for the CNCMSBL — by league members, for league members. It replaces the old WordPress site, and everything on it (schedules, scores, standings, stats and player pages) comes from what managers enter after each game.
This page explains how it works for the managers and officers who keep it up to date. Because it’s our own site, it can change: if you have an idea that would make it better, or something doesn’t work the way you expect, email support@cncmsbl.com. Tell us which page you were on and what you were trying to do — a screenshot helps a lot.
Part 1
Levels of access
Not everyone sees the same thing on the site. What you can see and change depends on your access level. If a button or page someone else mentions isn’t there for you, this is almost always why.
| Level | Who | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Public | Everyone — no sign-in needed | See schedules, scores, box scores, standings, stats and player pages. |
| Manager | Team managers, set up by an admin for one or more teams |
|
| Coach | Someone a manager adds to help — for example, the player who keeps the book | Everything a manager can do for that team, except adding or removing coaches. |
| Admin | League officers | Everything a manager can do, for every team — plus team details, fields, the schedule, blog posts, pages, sponsors, homepage announcements, and inviting people and setting their access. |
What this means day to day
- The green Edit button on a game page only appears on your team’s games. On other games you’ll just see the box score.
- Your dashboard only shows the sections you can use. Managers won’t see Fields, Blog, Pages, Sponsors, Announcements or Users.
- Under Teams, managers only see their own team, with a Roster button.
- If you spot a mistake in a game your team didn’t play in, tell that team’s manager or email support@cncmsbl.com.
Adding a coach
If someone on your team enters stats for you, you can give him access yourself — no need to email an admin.
- Go to Teams → Roster next to your team.
- In the Coaches box, enter his name and email and click Add Coach.
- He gets an email to set his password (if he’s new to the site), then signs in at cncmsbl.com/admin.
A coach can only work on your team. You can remove coaches you added from the same box; admins can see who added whom.
Getting access
- An admin invites you using your email address and sets your access level.
- You’ll get an email with a link to set your password.
- Sign in at cncmsbl.com/admin. If you forget your password, use Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
- Click your email at the top of the admin and add Your name under My Profile, so other managers see who’s editing a game.
If you think you should be able to do something and can’t, email support@cncmsbl.com and we’ll check your access.
Part 2
How to enter the results of a game
After every game, both managers enter stats for their own team. Stats only show up on the site once they’re entered, so the box score, standings and leaderboards are only as complete as the two of you make them.
Before you start: is your roster up to date?
The stats screen only lists players on your team’s roster. If someone new played — a sub, a pickup, a new signing — add him first:
- If he’s never played in the league: Players → Add New Player. The site warns you if a player with a similar name already exists — please use the existing player rather than creating a duplicate.
- Teams → Roster next to your team → search for him → add him.
Step by step
- Sign in at cncmsbl.com/admin.
- Click Games. You’ll see your team’s schedule; Jump to This Week takes you straight to the current games. Click Edit on the game.Shortcut: on the public game page, click the green Edit button next to the team names.
- Game Info — set Status to Final and click Save Game Info. (This is what marks the game as played; entering stats alone doesn’t.) Either manager can do this.
- Line Score— runs scored in each inning, plus total runs (R), hits (H) and errors (E) for each team. Leave innings that weren’t played blank. Either manager can fill this in — whoever goes second just checks it.
- Lineup (in your team’s section) — tick Played for everyone who played, and P for everyone who pitched.
- Batting— drag the rows into batting order (grab the handle on the left), then fill in each player’s line: AB, R, H, RBI, 2B, 3B, HR, BB, SO, HBP, SF, SH, SB, CS, LOB. Blank boxes count as 0.
- Pitching— drag pitchers into the order they pitched, then enter IP, H, R, ER, BB, SO, HR, WP, HBP, and tick W, L or SV.
- Click Save All Stats at the bottom and wait for “Stats saved successfully.”
- Open the public game page and check the box score looks right.
Innings pitched
Use baseball notation: 6.1 = 6⅓ innings, 6.2= 6⅔. (6.33 and 6.67 also work.) A pitcher who faced batters but got nobody out is 0.
One manager at a time
Only one person can edit a game at a time, so the two managers can’t overwrite each other’s numbers.
- If the other manager is already in the game, you’ll see “Joe Schmoe is currently editing this game” and the page is locked. As soon as he saves, it unlocks and refreshes with his changes — no need to reload.
- If you’re the one editing and someone is waiting, a note pops up in the corner. Finish up and save so he can get in. (After you save you can click Edit again to get back in line.)
- If someone leaves a game open and does nothing for 15 minutes, the person waiting can click Take over editing. Anything the first person hadn’t saved is lost.
Players who don't count toward stats
If you have to use a guest player who isn’t in the system, put “Guest” in his name (for example “Guest Player”). Guests appear in your box score and team totals, but not on leaderboards and don’t get a player page.
Part 3
How to edit a game that has already been recorded
Mistakes happen. You can fix any game your team played in, at any time, on the same screen you used to enter it.
Finding the game
- From the public site: open the game and click the green Edit button, or
- From the admin: Games→ scroll to the date (or use the division buttons to narrow the list) → Edit / Stats.
Everything already entered is filled in for you.
Common fixes
| To fix… | Do this |
|---|---|
| A wrong number | Change it, then Save All Stats. |
| The score or an inning | Fix it in the Line Score, then Save All Stats. |
| A player listed who didn’t play | Untick Played, then Save All Stats. |
| A player who played but isn’t listed | Add him to your roster (see Part 2), reload the game, tick Played, enter his line, save. |
| Batting order | Drag the rows, then Save All Stats. |
| Date, time, field, or status (postponed, cancelled, forfeit) | Change it under Game Info, then Save Game Info. |
Same rule when editing
Only one person can be in a game at a time (see Part 2). Save when you’re done so the other manager isn’t left waiting.
Changes show up on the site right away. Standings, team stats and leaderboards recalculate automatically — there’s nothing else to update. If something still looks wrong after you’ve saved, email support@cncmsbl.com.
